Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) is a prestigious international hockey tournament featuring teams from Russia, Kazakhstan, China and Belarus. Season 22/23 is the 15th season of the league.
The league is divided into 2 conferences: Western and Eastern. In turn, each conference is divided into 2 divisions. The Bobrov and Tarasov divisions belong to the Western Conference, and the Kharlamov and Chernyshev divisions to the Eastern Conference.
The tournament will feature 22 teams that will play 68 games against each other during the regular season. Based on the results of the games, the team that takes first place in the standings will be awarded the Tikhonov Continental Cup.
The top eight teams in each conference advance to the second round of the tournament, the playoffs of the Gagarin Cup. Playoffs are played within conferences in a series of games against each other up to 4 wins.
The winners of the playoffs round in conferences play each other in a final series, which determines the KHL Champion, the silver medalist and the owner of the Gagarin Cup. The bronze medal winner is selected from the eliminated semifinalists. The team with the best regular-season result will get on the podium.
