The Fonbet Cup of Russia 2025-2026 is the 34th edition of the second most important tournament in Russian football. The competition will be held from July 29, 2025 to May 24, 2026 with the support of the RFU and the title sponsor, Fonbet bookmaker. 104 teams from the RPL, FNL, LFC and IFF will play in the tournament.

Tournament format

The cup is divided into two paths: “RPL” and “Regions”.

1. The RPL Path

Group stage:

• 6 rounds according to the “each with each” system (two rounds).
• The top 2 teams advance to the RPL playoffs.
• The 3rd places go to the playoffs of the “Regions” way.
• 4th places are eliminated.

The playoffs:

• Two-match confrontations.
• If the score is equal in the sum of two matches, a penalty shootout (the away goal rule does not apply).

2. The Path of the Regions

Early rounds (1/256 – 1/8 finals):

• 6 stages according to the cup system (one match).
• In case of a tie, a penalty shootout immediately (without additional penalty). time).
• 4 teams advance to the 1/4 finals.

Quarterfinals and semifinals:

• Round 1: The teams of the “Regions” path play against the 3rd place winners in the RPL path groups.
• Round 2: the winners meet with the teams eliminated in the 1/4 finals of the RPL.

Finals and Superfinals

• The final of the path of the “Regions” is one match (without the right to continue the fight for the loser).
• Superfinal: the winners of the “RPL” and “Regions” paths determine the winner of the Cup of Russia.

Thus, the teams that have been eliminated from the RPL path (except for the finalists) retain a chance to win the trophy through the path of the “Regions”.

Russian Cup Scheme 2025-2026

Teams from the Regions can play up to 12 matches per tournament. Participants of the RPL path – up to 13 games.

Prizes and privileges of the winner

The winner of the Superfinal gets:

✔ 17-kilogram crystal cup with silver elements and symbols of the Russian Federation.

✔ The title of the Russian Cup winner.

✔ Cash prize (~75 million rubles).

✔ A ticket to the Russian Super Cup.

✔ In case of the RFU’s admission to the UEFA tournaments, the Europa League will start from the 4th qualifying round.

Trophy history and design

The Russian Cup has been played since 1992. Its design combines:

• A crystal base.
• Silver inserts and engravings.
• The RFU emblem and football symbols.

The record holders for wins are Lokomotiv Moscow and CSKA Moscow with 9 trophies each.

The anthem of the Russian Football Cup

Starting this season, the official anthem of the Russian Cup, created by the famous composer Maxim Fadeev, will be played before each match of the tournament.

• The premiere took place on June 1, 2025 during the Superfinal.
• The anthem is intended to enhance the atmosphere of the tournament and emphasize its importance for Russian football.

Now the fans will not only be able to follow the game, but also immerse themselves in a special emotional atmosphere from the first seconds of the match.
