FIFA World Cup 2026 (WC 2026) is the 23rd international soccer tournament among national teams under the auspices of the International Football Federation (FIFA). The tournament will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada from May 31 to July 19, 2026.

WC 2026 is the first World Cup in which 48 national teams (12 groups of four teams each) will take part. The teams that finish 1st and 2nd in their group, as well as the top 8 teams in 3rd place, will qualify for the playoff round (1/16 finals).
The playoff round will be held in its classic version. Each stage consists of one match, and the winner is determined in regulation time (two halves of 45 minutes), extra time (two halves of 15 minutes) and, if necessary, in a penalty shootout.
Thus, the total number of matches played in the final part of the World Cup will increase from 64 to 104, and the duration of the tournament will also increase to 40 days. In connection with this, the number of places in the tournament from each Confederation has also changed significantly.

Logo and Slogan WC 2026

On May 18, 2023 in Los Angeles, FIFA officially unveiled the logo and slogan for the upcoming championship. The logo itself is presented in a minimalist style: the World Cup and the year of the tournament. Fans did not appreciate the logo and harshly criticized the image on social networks: “This is the laziest logo in the history of soccer!”.
The slogan of the World Cup 2026 generated by the AI is: “We Are 26” (We Are 26). The slogan, according to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, is a rallying cry as three countries and an entire continent come together to organize the best World Cup in history.
It didn’t take long for soccer fans to react: “It sounds strange, like the name of a helicopter” (“Mi-26” is a heavy transport and landing helicopter of the Russian Federation).
