Russian Volleyball Championship 2025-2026 is the 35th season of the women’s and men’s Volleyball Super League, which starts in October 2025 and runs until May 2026. 16 men’s and 14 women’s teams will take part in the competition.

Key changes in the membership:

→ A new team from St. Petersburg, Korabelka, will make its debut in the women’s division. The club has already strengthened its squad with such experienced volleyball players as Irina Filishtinskaya, a binder, and Viktoria Bobrova, an after-game player.

→ The Belarusian club “Minchanka” will perform among the Russian teams again.

Competition format and regulations

The season is traditionally divided into two stages. In the first group stage, the teams will play each opponent twice — on their own and on someone else’s court. The scoring system remains classic: 3 points for a 3:0 or 3:1 victory, 2 points for a 3:2 victory, 1 point for a 2:3 defeat and 0 points for a 0:3 or 1:3 defeat. A team faces a penalty of minus one point for failure to appear.

The path to the championship:

• For men: The teams ranked 5th to 12th will start the competition from the qualifying matches. Teams from 1st to 4th place will advance directly to the quarterfinals. The worst team at the end of the group stage will leave the elite division, and the club that took the 15th place will play in the transition matches with the challenger from the Top League “A”.
• For women: The top 8 teams advance to the playoff stage. The team in the last, 14th place, is eliminated from the Super League, and the team in 13th place will compete for a place in the elite with the silver medalist of the A-League.

Updating the regulations:

1. Freedom for attackers. Now, when submitting, the placement rules apply only to the receiving party. The serving team can place its players on the court as it pleases in order to immediately create an advantageous position for an attack.
2. Imperfect broadcasts are forgiven. The referees relented on the second touch. If, when receiving or finishing the ball, the passer did not make two openly visible touches in a row, then such a transfer will not be considered an error. This will allow you to save more difficult balls and continue the attack.

Volleyball Super League 2025-2026 is preparing a lot of surprises for the fans. The updated format, the strengthening of the teams and the classic confrontation create ideal conditions for an exciting sporting spectacle.
