UEFA Champions League 2024-2025 is the historic 70th season of Europe’s most prestigious soccer tournament, which will take place from July 9, 2024 to May 31, 2025. A total of 83 teams will take part in the competition, which will have to pass through a multi-stage qualifying, main/group stage, and play-off round.

From the 2024/25 season, the group stage has changed the format of the competition. Instead of the usual group of 4 teams, soccer clubs will take part in a single league of 36 places, and the number of games played will increase from 6 to 8, with all 8 games against different opponents (4 games at home and 4 away).

Directly to the stage of 1/8 finals will go the teams that will occupy in the league from 1st to 8th place. Teams that will be ranked from 9th to 24th place inclusive will take part in the 1/16 finals. All those who will take from 25th to 36th place will leave the tournament without the right to take part in the Europa League.

Each stage of the playoff round is played in the format of two matches – home and away. The team that scores the most goals in the two matches qualifies for the next stage. The tournament final consists of one match, which will be held in Munich at the Allianz Arena on May 31, 2025.

The winner of the tournament receives a trophy in the form of a silver amphora with a gold coating inside. The cup is 73.5 centimeters high and weighs 7.5 kilograms. The names of all the teams that have won the Champions League are engraved on the back of the cup. In addition, the winner is awarded a substantial cash prize and two tickets to the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

On May 2, 2022, the UEFA executive committee decided to suspend Russian national teams and clubs from participating in tournaments under the auspices of its organization until further notice. Liechtenstein clubs will also not take part in the current tournament, as they do not have their own championship and are integrated into the Swiss league system.
